Gemini - Tribute Vol.2
Label: Robsoul Recordings
Gemini (a.k.a Spencer Kincey) started his career in the mid 90s in Chicago with releases on Relief Records and Cajual. His music was always diverse and made everything from house-techno. Thru the years he had tons of releases on labels such as Planet E, Peacefrog Records, Distance, Cyclo, Classic and many more. Gemini moved to the bay area in the early 2000s and then vanished from the scene around 2002. There are many stories of what happened to Spencer from begging for money on the streets, going crazy, and even filing lawsuits against arms of the US government and including the FBI. One thing is for sure, Geminis music was ahead of his time and his music is still relevant till this day. Robsoul agreed and made 2 Tribute eps in his honor. All tracks are good but #2 is a good representation of Geminis sound.
1) Return of the Jack originally was released on Cyclo in 1998 on the Take Your Time EP. This track is full of drums and percussion and has an acid like baseline. Spacey chords come in about half way and give the track a touch of deepness.
2)Spirals is another track that was originally released on Cyclo. This track is typical Gemini to say the least. Scattered drum programing and chord stabs done like only Gemini can. This is a good track to open set or wind down the night.
3) Take your time was the title track off of the Cyclo release in 1998. This is a lil funky jam with kind of a Green Velvet feel. The track has Geminis voice throughout the song saying *Take your time, free your mind and all your worries will go away in time.*
4) Wanna Push You...the title says it all. This track is a gem for djs that want to push you on the dancefloor. This out of all for tracks is the discoish jam that will keep your feet moving and your head bobbing. The track has one serious loop that will get you into a groove.
