Particle Being Trio
Post Terrestrial Volume One
Debacle Records
All tracks bleed into each other - it's an excellent live recording. Maybe you'd be afraid that the trombone would push the music over the post-rock cliff but the effects combined with spacey laser synths and jazz drumming transform this into something else entirely. Take the emotive horns of the best of Broken Social Scene combined with Megabats bubbly psychedelic synth melodies and add Truscinski's impeccable, commanding restraint on drums.
1. (12:57) Majestic drone intro - sitar sounding synth and trumpet. Layers gradually build as drums slowly appear and synths gradually get more kaleidoscope laser-y. Trombone and synth weave psychedelic melodies around each other. An eensy bit cheesy.
*2. (2:47) More forward and joyful. Living life fully
3. (4:55) Deep drone with drum showcase
***4. (12:19) Repetitive starfish foundation. Bubbly alien videogame freakout. Trombone gives it a little Feel Good Lost touch in a very good sort of way. Very abrupt end.
