Metz / Metz - Rock/Grunge (Sub pop)
Rock trio from Toronto. Bass, drums, guitar, feedback, yell-singing, occasional screams. Refreshingly loud. Aggressive and rhythmic. May cause you to break things. Singer sounds a bit like Sid Vicious, but this is more grunge than punk. All songs fast. All lyrics speak to dissatisfaction and paranoia. No FCCS detected. Faves: 6,9 --eme o.
Headache (2:18) Drums lead off. Guitars zoom to the fore ~2:06.
Get Off (2:22) Racing guitars, pounding drums, you can mosh to this or you can stand still and your heart will race either way
Sad Pricks (2:51) A few moments of semi-silence and then the music comes crashing in ~2:43
Rats (3:04) Guitar leads off aggressive/ominous, Drums punch you in the chest ~2:53. The ride starts there and ends with feedback.
Knife in the Water (2:12) Mid-tempo. Drums to start. Guitar comes in ~2:02. Speed picks up ~1:48. Segues into next track
Nausea (1:05) Slower than the other tracks. Instruments sound far away and gradually fade to nothing.
Wet Blanket (3:53) Starts slow, helicopter sounds and feedback to ~3:44 when the guitar jumps to attention.
Wasted (4:07) Feedback to begin, guitar adds a rhythm ~4:01, drums pounce ~3:47
The Mule (2:24) Guitar torments like a fly hovering around your head. Drums hammer to the rescue ~2:19.
Negative Space (3:22) Guitar slides from high to low, fast to slow, then things kick up ~3:09
bonus track (2:05) silence to ~1:11, then a a gradually loudening hum peaks and gives way to a single tone ~0:20, which fades away
