Blissful, dreamy, drone/ambient-inspired, classically-inflected folk. For fans of Erik Enocksson, Peter Broderick, Danny Paul Grody, hell, maybe even Josh T Pearson, Miasmah Recordings, “post-rock,” Fahey, that Do Make Say Think folky album. Long-ish, lush pieces from this talented, local artist. Among other releases, Weathers recorded a devastating record with his dad (Remora) last year, called Drone is in the Blood. And that’s how I’d describe this: devastatingly beautiful. Weathers is coming for the 2013 Day of Noise, so give this some love. All great, no FCCs, mostly instrumental.
*1. Slow, dreamy, droney harmonica, strings, and very relaxing, meditative guitar comes in. Ends on multitracked a capella. (7:18)
2. Tense violins, droning harmonica score to a film. (6:19)
3. Warmer, faster, easier structure to follow, second half breaks down into exploratory, blissful wandering. (5:05)
*4. Kitchen sink of abrupt sounds and then shifts to sweet banjo pop loveliness. (5:14)
5. Shorter, slower guitar ditty.
6. Long, sustained bowings and later incorporates noisy scrapings into the fragile dreams. (7:09)
7. “song.” As you might imagine, some words; reprise of 1. (1:48)
*8. Cinematic feel with some winds, very nice, different. (4:48)
9. More slow dreamy guitar and strings, unnoticeable transition from 8. (4:15)
