JERRY FELS AND THE JERRY FELS: “And Light Said Let There Be God” — One-man band from Massachusetts. Amusing folk/punk/pop, using acoustic guitar, Casio keyboard and auxiliary percussion. Fun. — Sunshine, April 2014
1) “A Tree Is A Tree” — Heavy Casio action. Bizarre lyrics. Happy.
2) “Where I’m Going All Depends On Where I’ve Been” — Happy, upbeat frolicking introspective psych exam.
3) “What Was There Before There Was There” — Percussion, with nursery-rhyme-sounding lyrics. Happy introspection.
4) “Love Is Like Quantum Physics” — Tamborine (probably Casio), calliope sounds. Funny poem, especially for science students. Poundingly upbeat.
5) “You Can’t Put A Chip In Me” — Bluesy folk. Funny lyrics. Nice flow.
6) “Reptile Brain Vs. Mammal Brain” — Hilariously silly lyrics. Accompaniment almost sounds sincere. Lots of Casio.
7) “I Don’t Believe In Happiness” — Punky, poundingly loud. Rather downtrodden lyrics, in spite of happy Casio.
8) “God Didn’t Smile On Me” — Plucked and picked guitar. Folksy. Midtempo.
9) “I Hope I Don’t Lose My Soul” — Strumming strings. Reminds me of elementary school auto-harp daze. Peter, Paul and Mary. Or Donovan, or even Bob Dylan.
10) “I Wish There Was Sunshine” — Pretty lament. Acoustic picking folk guitar. Mellow.
11) “When I Wake Up (I Wish I Was Dead)” — Calliope/Casio. Morbidly happy. Cute in an odd way.
12) “Shake It Around” — Sock hop sound. Reminiscent of ‘60s pop.
