Super psychy EP released Record Store Day ‘13, two or three are probably outtakes from their most recent album (Floating Coffin) and there’s a super saccharine one that sounds totally different. Each track is pretty distinct. No FCCs detected.
1 (3:21) Weirdo outer-space sound effects and guitar, the most repetitive 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2 drum beat imaginable, indecipherable vox, tons of reverb.
2 (2:54) Dark, bass-driven, effected garage feat. Lars Finberg of the Intelligence (and sometimes Thee Oh Sees live) on vox, homages to Floyd’s Interstellar Overdrive. 15 seconds of fucking around/silence at end including taped over quiet Floyd Money clip.
**3 (4:41) Sounds like it was written for their live show, tons of la la la la’s, fem backing vox high in the mix here, quintessential Sees sound, guitar tricks, constant organ, pedals, etc. Real good
*4 (3:37) Really, really huge 60s psych-pop influence here. Decipherable and subdued, sounds like Village Green era Kinks, with guests Kelley Stoltz on harpsichord, which defines the track, and K Dylan Edrich (Mallard) on viola.
