Vitamins - Motions
Summery shoegaze pop drenched in gooey krautrock groove and bizarre weirdness that would please fans of Thee Oh Sees and Deerhoof alike. Hypnotic beats, shimmering psychedelic guitars with psychotic layers of reverb and delay, soaring angelic vocals echoing and ghostly. It’s smarmy but it rocks, jams balancing catchiness and dissonance perfectly. Essential listening for Summer 2013! FCC Clean, but watch the transitions, as most tracks blend seamlessly into the following one.
1.(5:42)* Driving motorik beat over a catchy summer psych-pop tune with occasional punkish snot, anthemic
2. (3:26)Angular, funky, tight and weird bossa nova via Deerhoof kind of strut
3. (4:56) Gradual build into some epic soaring riffs, mellows out with multi-tracked oohs & aahs, clunky bassline wanders into the next song—
4. (1:06) Clattering percussion while the sirens try to seduce Odysseus
5. (1:02) droning, blipping satellite whale songs
6, (4:02) Plodding fuzzed-out bass driven strut finds its way in a dreamy summery pop tune, a heavier rock dirge ensues before mellowing out and drifting into droning cello…
7. (4:58)*** Cellos drone on until a psychedelic blues-rock groove comes out of nowhere, so awesome!
8. (0:58) reprise of the weird interlude on track 5, goes into next track…
9. (5:28) drifting psychedelic haze, slow and narcotic but reaching some soaring heights, like a more “epic” Velvet Underground
10. (4:10)Instrumental: swirling skronky electronics until a driving beat comes in at 0:45, buried under layers of guitar shoegaze and bright reverbed solos
11. (3:48) Instrumental: throbbing, meditative rocker, marches into an epic soaring crescendo. Somehow it’s an homage to Nick Drake?
