Shoegazey pop out of Brooklyn, brings 4AD to mind. Equal parts MBV, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Smiths (jangly guitars more than anything else), and I bet they wouldn't sound like this if Genesis never existed. A little pretentious (they call themselves nouveau wave, check out their press photos, etc.), if that still bothers you as a college radio DJ. Male vox slow, falsetto, echoed across the board. Most songs sound pretty similar to one another. No FCCs detected
1 (2:42) Quiet minute of intro, drums kick in, softly noisy, unintelligible vox at end
*2 (4:00) Poppy, synthy, dreamy, lots of ahhs
3 (4:59) Driving, alternating quiet/loud, smeared vox
4 (6:08) Sample of baby crying in the middle of this midtempo shoegaze song
5 (5:20) Loud/soft/loud, tons of synths, loud guitars here and there
6 (4:40) Jangly shoegaze-cum-prog, loud breathing sample at the end
*7 (4:18) Louder, lots going on, melded guitars/synths
8 (4:05) Slower, sentimental before picking up in jangly second half
9 (2:20) Depechey, quiet, moody
10 (3:00) Jangle guitar and hazy synthpop alternate
*11 (4:30) Upbeat, dreamy, jangly guits again, fem backing vox
12 (5:38) Downtempo, jangly percussion joins the mix
13 (4:42) 80s; imagine if the Stone Roses debut 4 years early opening for Jesus and Mary Chain
14 (2:30) Echoey, dark synths
15 (6:22) Cure influence shines through here, drawn out vox
16 (3:35) Quiet, vox literally echo here and there
