BRILLIANT, AMAZING SOUNDSCAPES. LA-based electronic musician Derek Rogers is a genius when it comes to balancing minimalism with dense, pensive layering (see also his Circuit Rider collab with Lee Noble). Haunting shrouds of synth oscillations warp and drone in a non-Euclidean ether, crafting a perfect soundtrack for your impending alien abduction.
RIYL Hobo Cubes, Fennesz, Goldtimers tapes
1. *(12:52) whoa, this is fucking epic, so simple yet I can’t describe it in words. Henceforth this shall be the standard definition for “bladerunnercore”
2. (4:16) relatively brief, wistful melody, almost song-like, some throbbing laser beams emerge and conclude
3. ***(7:33)glacial meditations. Minimum entropy flavored.
4. (1:46) “street sweepers at noon” describes it all
5. (7:33) lonely high-pitched drone grows shrill, frayed at the edges, relentlessly melancholy
6. (7:45)** gentle drone gives way to undulating layers of Terry Riley-esque arpeggiating bliss
7. (9:19) bleak and foreboding guitar drones, almost industrial windy static at first gives way to dreamy snowdrifts
8. (5:04) starts “pretty” but soon descends into chaotic labyrinths of noise, grating rusty chainsaws, pretty ambience concludes
