Tycho- Awake
Label: Ghostly Int’l
Scott Hansen, AKA Tycho (LOCAL!), is kind of a big deal now. Who knew?! 2nd album is still dreamy, airy, and uses synthesizers, but a little more upbeat and developed. This album features a three piece band as opposed to previous solo works. Expect: heavy spacey/ synths, poppy claps, drums, guitarz, & instrumentals. A lot of songs sound the same but w/ minor differences. Sorry about the sappy review, but this album just evokes feelings OK?! RIYL: Apparat, M83, oxycontin.
FCC Clean
Picks: 1, 3, 5, *6* but all of them are pretty good.
~Mayjahn~
*1. (4:44) Pretty landscape-y synths over driving drums and guitar. Sunny drive kind of song.
2. (5:26) More drums, synth walls, and more twinkling effects. Epic night of tom-foolery followed by walking along the beach as the sun rises :)
*3. (4:38) Bass guitar leading this one, followed by nice twinkles and shakers.
4. (5:17) Ebbs and flows on this spacey, happy piece. Kick drums, stringy guitars, and lots of light pink on this one.
*5. (5:19) Nice builds and crashes. More spacey. Rainy sounds. Like dancing/ singing in the rain with a loved one on a warm summer night.
**6. (4:20) Nice rises & falls guided by drums, psychedelia, and warmth. This song is kind of like a soothing lullaby almost
7. (3:47) Guitars drive this one, shakers, faster drums.
8. (3:17) Oh shit here comes the melancholy. Sunsets for daze.
