Listen is the 4th album from british pop group The Kooks. I am totally reviewing this for nostalgic reasons (I was a gigantic fan of their first 2 records). It is super poppy, but this most recent one has an added twist of some more funky baselines and even some elements that remind me of 70s psych-pop. Don't get me wrong, it is pop music, but I was not bored by it. Also, I still love that voice so much. I guess I will never get over my first lead singer crush.

Recommended Tracks: 2, 3, 5, 11
1. (4:12) Around Town - This is super psych-poppy, could actually be a song straight out of the movie Hair...which is kind of weird.
2. (3:57) Forgive & Forget -This is The Kooks that I love, but it is still kind of funky, with some cool harmonies.
3. (3:30) Westside - Mid-tempo. This one is not psychedelic, sounds like the first record. Simple love song, synthy chorus, really like it.
4. (3:01) See Me Now - Piano, bass and vox only. Dramatic.
5. (3:13) It Was London - Strummy guitar, steady beat, vocal distortion, love.
6. (3:41) Bad Habit - Starts with some chanting harmonies and hand claps, has some serious floor tom later. Feels like the single to me.
7. (2:45) Down - This one is a dud.
8. (3:01) Dreams - This could be a song by Love (except it is not nearly as good as Love...)
9. (4:06) Are We Electric - Yep, this is the electro pop song.
10. (3:15) Sunrise - More hand claps and harmonies...kind of a snooze.
11. (5:11) Sweet Emotion - I really like this, super catchy, cool instrumentation, impossible not to bob your head to.
