The Bohicas/The Bohicas
High-energy rock and roll. This is the first EP from a new band from Essex, England. Driving, repetitive music: at its best when it’s flirty, at its worst when it tries to be experimental. Every song is at least a little weird. The EP is really high-energy, almost manic. It would be exhausting in high doses, but luckily, all the songs are pretty concise.
Recommended: 2.
1) “Crush Me” (2:45) (FCC OBSCENE?): I’m not sure if this track is FCC obscene or not… “When we were naked and deflated / I thought we were the greatest.” And the whole song is about how the singer wants to be “crushed.” I’ll leave it up to you.
2) “XXX” (2:39): High-energy song, lots of distortion. Flirty, weird, fun.
3) “Bloodhound” (3:13): Singer compares himself to a bloodhound. Unfortunately, he never howls…I was kind of waiting for that.
4) “Swarm” (2:52): The bass just keeps driving, driving, driving, but the song is thin in the way of lyrics.
