Elisa Ambrogio/ The Immoralist
Label: Drag City
Solo debut from Magik Markers’s Elisa Ambrogio. Distant and dreamy vocals, reverb-heavy.
RIYL: Magik Markers, Sylan Esso, Phantogram, Garbage
Recommended tracks: 6
• (3:38) Quickened-pulse drums and radiant piano chords, beat kicks in as song moves ahead.
• (4:16) Fragile vocals with layers of wordless harmonies, adds subtle guitar arpeggios to piano. Simple, downtempo.
• (3:37) Eerie, dreamy vocals. Electric guitar riffs, similar to 90’s alt-rock sounds like Garbage/the Cranberries, but with a dreamy overtone.
• (2:31) Steady, 90’s rock with Nirvana-sounding/dreary female vocals.
• (3:53) Stringy, randomly strewn synths…. Intense sounding, sporadic vocals. Very Bjork-esque. Experimental and choppy, but still good!
• (4:38) Very surreal vocals, pleasant piano beat, soundtrack-to-a-long-walk-outside, scratchy guitar comes in at the end. **
• (2:24) Upbeat. Sounds like 90’s dance-rock.
• (4:02) Dark, downtempo, indie-rock. Uneventful meody.
• (1:46) Layered reed instruments, instrumental.
• (2:52) Downtempo, winding down. Fragile vocals, 90’s alt-rock influences, minimal background instruments compared to previous songs.
