Freight 1110 through Greensboro
Full Spectrum Records
Experimental folk. An intensely personal ode to the southern city that has also been home to folk experimentalists Eugene Chadbourne and Henry Flynt by the duo of Austin Glover and Eric Perreault. Fiddle, saxophone, harmonica, piano, mbira, electronics, voice, cello, concertina. RIYL Andrew Weathers Ensemble
1. (1:08) Dramatic synth(?) strings, very rich, fades 5 sec early
**2. (6:22) Lovely layers of string drone becomes rusty but true strong male vocals. More voices join in lovely vocal loops and echoes, gentle old-timey homestead fiddle suddenly takes upon many layers becoming a great intricate drone. Wow
3. (3:46) Saloon piano with lots of Satie loops and trills, a little feedback
4. (8:55) Stately slow drone chords turns into non-traditional melody. Voices come in oohing and awing. Cello, saxophone, clarinet
5. (4:17) Soft clatter, melancholy lyrical violin, reminiscing about land open and free
*6. (10:11) Medium and slow harmonica drone, male vocals enter in the background becomes a duet, develops intense layers then quiets down again
7. (5:42) slow droney melody with violin arpeggios over it. sounds like a practice exercise, becomes interesting sweeping droney melody again
*8. (7:09) Solo violin opening then harmonica and voice layers into rich melodic drone, then quiet uke strumming then with harmonizing vocals outro
**9. (8:22) Faint glowing drone grows in intensity and layers, very steady and sustained rich symphonic melody
