Gardens and Villa
This is the second release form Santa Barbara band Gardens and Villa, out on Secretly Canadian. The tracks are kind of hit or miss, but the good ones are really good. Think psych-alt-rock. RIYL: MGMT, Tame Impala.
FCC: Track 7
Recommended Tracks: 3, 5, 11
1. (0:51) Intro - Synth-tro.
2. (3:34 ) Maximize Results - Not my favorite track, a little too frantic and too much falsetto.
3. (3:53) Fixations - LOVE this one, a mix of Tame Impala and MGMT, but upbeat, easy going, awesome.
4. (3:08) Everybody - Psych-ish, punchy beat, cool piano part, cool vocals, another great one.
5. (3:59) Paradise - Another of my favorites, piano driven, cool harmonies, great melody, easy going.
6. (3:00) Alone in the City - Down tempo, poppy, pretty.
7. FCC SHIT (4:17) General Research - 80s rock feel, very cool electronic sound but also mellow.
8. (2:43) Express - Uptempo piano part, snappy catchy song.
9. (4:26) Happy Times - Down tempo and lazy.
10. (3:06) Jubilee - This one is pretty weird, another super 80s sounding track.
11. (3:38) I Already Do - Mid tempo, piano and vocal harmonies with a steady beat, another of my favorites.
