Interesting takes on some jazz classics as well as Peruvian and American songs; I like the Latin-derived ones best but all are competently played. Favorite tracks: 2,3,5,8
No FCC issues
1--Caravan-- 6:05 – edgy African take on jazz classic – bit of a jungle soundscape with Spanish call&response
*2-–Take Five/El Condor Pasa - 6:06- nice guitar riffs lead off; cool interweaving of rhythms & melodies
*3-– Taita Guaranguito - 7:21-traditional Peruvian with lots of trumpet/flugelhorn and vocals – slightly Cuban-sounding
4-- My Favorite Things - 6:34 -takes awhile to get into it; multi-rhythmic; harmonizing horns;deconstructs it in a different way from Coltrane
*5-- Birdland- 5:25 – lively, lots of percussion
6-Himno Nacional del Peru – 4:06 – quiet, mellow, lots of keyboard, segues to horns
7-Lonely Woman- 6:55 – lead off with bass fiddle figure; horn solo with drums; Ornette Coleman comp
*8-Contigo Peru – 6:48 – harmonizing horns with guitar and percussion; quiet, magical; some spoken words over music
9-Homenaje a Chincha-5:17 – spoken words with horn and percussion
10-The Star Spangled Banner – 3:45 – nice, rhythmic, non-bombastic version of our national anthem
