Bombino’s best album so far, very well produced and a slight shift away from his original ‘Guitars from Agadez’ sound into what he calls ‘Tuarraggae’, a bit of an offstep desert sparseness unlike anything he’s done. It has his same old love song feel, with even a but of a metal-aura, piercing guitar tones which drift you away. Great album!!!!
FCC Clean Recommended: 2, 3***, 4, 5***, 7, 8, 10
1 - (3:52) Akhar Zaman (This Moment) – frantically fast paced introduction, clearly excited for the album, buttery smooth blues riffing
**2 - (5:00) Iwaranagh (We Must) – slight reggae beat, ‘Tuarragae’, a love song, beautiful chorus
***3 - (3:47) Inar (If You Know the Degree of My Love For You) – the silkiest silk on the West of the Silk Road…total Jam!!!!!! Universal folk
**4 - (4:03) Tamiditine Tarhanam (My Love, I Tell You) – get your partner and swing because if you can’t shake it with this, you’re doomed. If this doesn’t resonate with you, you need to spend a week in the desert and not the burning man kind of desert…
***5 - (4:53) Timtar (Memories) – this riff will catch you red handed
6 - (6:07) Iyat Ninhay/Jaguar (A Desert I Saw) –shifting between hard rock and slow sultry jams…like a runaway train with significant ululation
**7 - (5:46) Igmayagh Dum (My Lover) – a true love song, flows like a refreshing river
**8 - (3:24) Ashuhada (Martyrs of the First Rebellion) – folk chant, become mesmerized
9 - (4:22) Timidiwa (Friendship) – good vibes, repetitive jam, easy to bob your head to
**10 - (5:39) Naqqim Dagh Timshar (We Are Left In This Abandoned Place) – a return to the desert home he left behind…pain and happiness all in one. I AM HOME!
