Debut album from adamant South Australian Liam Gerner. After touring around the US and playing music with all kinds of people and bands, this album was formulated, with songs often based on true stories he had heard on the road, like the methamphetamine running seniors in their Winnebago (#2) or the slave who mailed himself to freedom (#8). Liam is in his element as a singer/songwriter when telling a story with his gentle and expressive voice, like in 2,3,6. #10 is fun for the late night hours
Liam Gerner “Land Of No Roads” (no song length available)
1. nice, comfortable, relatable topic – debt and denial, slow
2. highlighted by the cajon accordion in background, entertaining, med
3. Ballad with strong, but gentle voice, slow
4.More of a typical honky tonk sound, med
5.***FCC*** unimaginative generic rock song
6. Evocative story that just might you want to hit the road, slow
7. Almost a pop sound to this one, med
8. Awesome story about an ingenious slave in the 1850’s, slow
9. Lament about life- highlights are the sha la la refrain and trumpet, slow
10, ***FCC****Unofficial Australian anthem with lyrics by Shel Silverstein, med
11. Sad sounding lyrics create mental images of barren landscapes, slow
12. bonus track about a beloved grandpa, slow
