JAZZ VOCALS – CHRISTMAS
Jane Lynch (from the TV show “Glee”) presents a nostalgic set of Christmas tunes. Most are quite popular, some are originals. Voices are 2 females, 1 male. Harmony style may remind you of Andrews Sisters, etc. Settings include big band, smaller ensemble, a cappella. No FCC issues.
Fast. Three voices. Cheery. Big swing-era band led by loud brass. Original song. (2:11)
* Fast. Cutesy singing. Small band is more subdued. Fun. (3:03)
* Mid tempo. Romantic song with strings. Lynch leads here; the others back her. (3:03)
Mid-fast medley. Led by other female (alto) singer. Instrumental bridge. (3:06)
Fast. Pop version of Handel’s famous “Hallelujah” with none of the power. (3:41)
Mid tempo. Nativity scene. Male sings first, then Lynch. Piano & flute. (3:16)
Slow, gloopy ballad but with comically “naughty” lyrics. Original song. (3:28)
* Mid slow, then faster. Jazzy treatment of “Jingle Bells.” Small group. (2:44)
Very slow. Often recorded, old English carol. Pretty but not special. (2:27)
Mid- tempo swing. Original song. Male voice with big band. Horn break. (2:35)
Mid-tempo. Original song. A naughty child writes to Santa. (4:07)
Mid-slow. Medley of “First Noel” and Pachelbel’s “Canon”. Pretty pop. (2:59)
* Mid-tempo. Small band with Brubeck-like bounce. Nice vocal harmonies. (3:51)
Slow. Soft instrumental (“Silent Night”) with organ and muted trumpet. (3:38)
Very slow. Nativity scene. Three voices, a cappella. (1:23)
