Jah Sun, “Between the Lines”

Fifth album from Humboldt CA native son. This album started as a reflection on his life’s journey and ended as a “defining moment, both musically and spiritually.” I like that he incorporates Reggae influences into more approachable music. I can honestly say that this is the BEST album I have reviewed in quite a while, probably due to it’s true fusional nature- it’s only loosely “Americana” because he’s from California and has been influenced by the Indie/Americana scene. To me, it’s really more of a world music sound. A great world music sound. Best: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6!!, 11
1. Med - 4:15 Optimistic, world beat
2. Med - 3:35 Jazzy, upbeat love song. I think I just fell in love with this guy
3. Med - 3:18 Reggae style rap, message to younger me
4. Med - 3:27 Reggae- dub style
5. Med - 3:28 Reggae/americana fusion. Good rhythm, danceable beat.
6. Slow/Med - 3:47 Wow! From the first note- melted my heart
7. Med - 3:09 Acoustic singer/songwriter reggae style
8. Med - 4:15 Big roots reggae band sound
9. Med - 3:50 Pleasant jam
10. Med - 3:59 Heartwarming tune
11. Med - 3:00 Blues/funk tinged reggae
12. Med - 3:21 Positive reggae tune, nice flute highlights
