For Los Angeles post-punk trio Moaning, the band wears their influences on their sleeves. And if you pulled back the members’ sleeves, you would see their influences tattooed on their arms. Sleeves under sleeves! Then, your enjoyment of Moaning’s self-titled album depends on how much you like old school bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, New Order. Or how much you like more modern bands like A Place To Bury Strangers and DIIV.

Like: Fiel Music, Wild Beast, Hookworms, Everything Everything.

Play: 2, 4, 8

1.Don't Go (2:51) - Danceable dreary and upbeat.
2.Tired (3:12) - Lush, dreamy and moments.
3.Artificial (3:32) - Energetic drive with the rhythm of paranoid eyes darting from side to side.
4.Close (2:54) - Low-fi recording conveys new wave nostalgia.
5.Does This Work for You (3:57) - Cymbal crashes and tremolo notes create a cacophony.
6.The Same (3:43) - An. awkward jerky foundation of guitar lines.
7.For Now (2:46) - A tug of war between untamed noise and the serene.
8.Useless (3:42) - Doomy lyricism buried beneath thick effects.
9.Misheard (3:39) - Prog-like chops without going overboard or losing focus.
10.Somewhere in There (3:24) - halfway house between shoegaze and the mechanical post-punk.
