Review: fabulous trio of three versatile flautists that take the flute into realms it hasn’t visited before. No accompanying instruments. Three pieces with several movements each, and each one is captivating.

Broken Birds
1/ Mvt 1 (1:45) – slow hesitant opening with long bursts> midtempo jam with intersecting solos in the high registers> quick fade
*2/ Mvt 2 (2:56) – high register uptempo opening> uptrmpo jam in different registers> quick stop
*3/ Mvt 3 (3:58) – fast jam opens & pauses> swings & pauses over & over like snow flurries, then slows to midtempo & fades
4/ Mvt 4 (2:10) – long slow drawn out notes open> slow tempo jam like haunting spirits> fade
*5/ Mvt 5 (6:13) – undulating notes like fairies dancing> midtempo jam with flutes intersecting> slow fade
6/ Mvt 6 (4:31) – slow low register flute opens> slow jam like the soundtrack for a sunset> slow fade
Bade Saba
*7/ Mvt 1 (4:08) – undulating uptempo jam opens, like water flowing down a creek, splashing, running over logs & stones, then going over a waterfall & flowing on> quick stop
8/ Mvt 2 (8:02) – stately midtempo opening like a royal procession, then swings uptempo like a bicycle race, then mellows back to the procession, then swings back to the race & fades
*9/ Mvt 3 (3:04) – steady notes like water dripping morphs into midtempo jam, then swings uptempo like rain, which increases in speed and fades away
Get Go!

11/ Mvt 2 (2:26) – slow hesitant opening> slow intersecting jam with a repetitive riff> quick stop
*12/ Mvt 3 (4:00) – hesitant opening> uptempo jam like a flight of hummingbirds> quick stop
