INDIE FOLK / FOLKTRONIC
Sean Carey is the drummer & backing vocalist in the band Bon Iver. As a solo act, using the name S Carey, he also plays guitars & keys, sings lead, and does the songwriting. As you’d expect, this is peaceful, dreamy, lowkey. There’s a pleasant sameness to these tracks, but a sameness nonetheless. FIYL Bon Iver, Megafaun, Field Report. Lyrics in booklet.
No FCC issues.
1 Slow. Strumming guitars. Light and airy. There’s some regret, some sadness. (3:34)
2 * Slow. A bit deeper. More electronics; strings. Pretty but terribly sad. (2:53)
3 Mid-tempo. A bit brighter sound. On the road with a lover, but it’s not working. (3:51)
4 * Very slow. Dreamy recollection about the start of a relationship that did work. (4:36)
5 Slow to mid. Dominant drums. Synths & strings. Downer lyrics. (2:53)
6 Mid-slow. Dreamy electronic sound. Pretty. Obscure meaning. (3:52)
7 ** Mid-tempo. Same essential sound, but more melodic. I like this one best. (4:04)
8 * Mid-slow. Gentle folksong. Strummed gtr & vox. A bit of elec gtr & pedal steel. (4:15)
9 Slow. Reverting to the mean: airy folktronic. Pretty melody in the chorus. (3:57)
10 Very slow. Chamber ensemble includes strings & woodwinds. Breathy vocals. (3:57)
