Danger: Diabolik is the fifth release by the NYC band Morricone Youth. Stylish and imaginative re-interpretation of the original Mario Bava 1968 Italian comic book action film, Danger: Diabolik. It’s like if an instrumental version of the The Black Heart Procession decided to do a soundtrack score for a 1960s Italian movie in the style of Pell Mell. Vivid.

Something else from the press release:
Morricone Youth formed in New York City in 1999 with the mission statement of composing, re-interpreting, performing and recording only "music written for the moving image." With a repertoire of over 100 reinterpretations of film and television soundtracks and music production library recordings, the band performs with projections thematically dedicated to specific composers or film music genres in addition to composing and performing its own original live scores to old silent films, midnight movies, animations and shorts in theaters and art spaces around the country.

RIYL: Piero Umiliani, Pell Mell, Ennio Morricone, Federale and Angelo Badalamenti.

Recommended Tracks: 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11

1. (3:27) ***Danger by Starlite – Slow tempo. Dramatic and dense. Instrumental.
2. (3:38) Deep Down – Medium tempo. Vocal driven – in Italian. Kinda jazzy.
3. (2:42) ***Driving Decoys – Medium-up tempo. Surf rock extravaganza. Solid cut. Instrumental.
4. (3:29) *Danger: $ex – Medium tempo. Synths and guitars. Very Pell Mell. Instrumental.
5. (4:05) Inspector Ginko – Medium tempo. The rockiest of all the cuts. Some female vocals. Partly instrumental.
6. (5:09) *Danger: Piscina – Slow/medium tempo. Theatrical and eclectic. Tour de force. Instrumental.
7. (3:25) Valmont's Go-Go Pad – Medium tempo. Another rock oriented piece here. Female vocals. Intense.
8. (5:26) **Danger: Autopsy – Slow/medium tempo. Dramatic and quite heavy a la Ennio Morricone.
9. (3:07) ***Danger: Chase – Slow/medium-up tempo. Part surf rock, part orchestral pop. Energetic.
10. (5:36) Eva Kant – Slow tempo. Sounds and visions of a pinnacle moment in the film. Makes me think of Piero Umiliani’s compositions.
11. (3:27) **Under Wah-Wah – Slow tempo. Operatic voices intro. Then surf guitars, 1960s vocal chorus, and other retro sounds. Perfect ending.
