Everyone loves a bit of psychedelic Mexican drone-rock and here’s forty-five minutes of it, courtesy of Lorena Quintanilla and Alberto Gonzalez. Remarkably, it’s the duo’s fifth album in seven years. Maybe it’s the peyote, or maybe it’s something much more spiritual, but there is a certain refined hallucinogenic high to De Facto, the new album from Mexican psychedelicists. De Facto is the first to be recorded in the home studio of core members Lorelle and The Obsolete. The change has certainly served them well, seemingly freeing them up and giving them room to move.

FCC Clean
Play: 2, 5, 6, 8
1.Ana (5:24) - Funereal pulsing rhythms, disgorged guitar scree and echoing vocal.
2.Líneas En Hojas (3:29) - Builds out of its skeletal drum loop into a glorious synth led pop song.
3.Acción – Vaciar (3:30) - playful mysteriousness winds its way into ever darker crevices.
4.Unificado (9:11) - Cinematic art-folk to fiery, defiant repetitive blasts that spit fire and live urgency.
5.Inundación (3:26) - Balmy buzzing retro-futuristic soundscapes.
6.Lux, Lumina (3:20) - The spirit of Can in its shuffling groove, before falling into a heady chasm of noise.
7.Resistir (3:29) - Mesmeric Bardo Pond-soaked heavy-psych-rock.
8.El Derrumbe (3:18) - A cinematic soundscape of synths.
9.La Maga (10:17) - More gentle, less apocalyptic, but all the more poignant for it.
