Three brothers with classical music training plus their friend make interesting and varied music together; originally from Veracruz, they are now based in the Bronx. Their instruments and voices blend in a pleasing way with influences from Mexican folk music and jazz; fresh, unique sound
No FCC's: Favorite tracks: 1, 2, 4, 9, 10,33
*1 – Xalapa Bang! – 4:34 –edgy lyrics about peaceful protests crushed by state-sanctioned violence with gypsy violin flourishes, vocal harmony, and piano glisses
*2 –Destino –5:54-- a little slower with nice guitar intro, vocal and violin harmony
3—Chiquitita –3:22-- nice harmony and punchy syncopation
*4--Lo Relativo—5:16 – vocal with violin through-line and spiky rhythmic accompaniment
5--Hombres de Arcilla –7:24-- haunting ballad about the disappeared students in southern Mexico introduces more dissonant neo-classical notes and techniques
6. Quien Eres Tu—4:24 –pretty vocal backed by romantic strings
7. Hermano Mio –4:50-- mysterious violin riffs lead off and then guitar comes in and beat picks up
8. La Leva -6:28 --traditional sounding music under spoken dialogue segues to strings and then gets more rhythmic
*9. Ausencia de Ti—4:27—sweetly legato guitar and violin ballad
*10. Sin Mi—5:37 – interesting mixture of genres
11. Wind Song—4:11-- you can definitely hear the wind blowing through the strings
12. Somos—3:41—mainstream pop sound with vocals
*13. Veracruzana—5:16-- flamboyant and catchy with vocals; flamenco with violins!slows down in the middle, adds percussion and goes somewhere else and comes back
