Casio type cheap synths through effects pedals with big beats creates “noise pop” defined: noisy almost harsh but with fun almost silly melodies and pop sentiments. All instrumental. Childlike at times. Kinda shticky but also brings to mind what everyone peed their pants over when Sleigh Bells first released a record – makes sense as this guy is a Brooklyn stalwart with deep roots in noise/pop.
1) (5:13) wacky electronic keys through fuzz noise picks up a bright cheery feel and tone after a minute, here’s your true noise-pop 2) (2:04) big beat with epic melodic sense 3) (1:08) quiet with simple Casio tones coming through 4) (1:44) epic feel w straight ahead beat 5) (2:33) fun and playful matching 6)* (4:45) brass elements, big epic cinematic 7) (2:45) has a “regal” feel about it with a brass section tooting, then the distortion begins 8) (1:01) brief analog distorto sawtooths 9) (2:41) big swirling with toylike simple melodies 10)* (4:48) good solid beat, less precious and reliant on the shtick 11) (2:39) amalgam of all of the above, mid paced
