Epic acoustic bass and guitar with vioin, very classic tone and sound of late 60’s early 70’s. No drums or vocals, at times it smacks of excellent Fairport Convention, Nick Drake/Van Morrison’s instrumentation. This is a re-release of a classic 1978 record by Jansch, who is a Scottish musician who was part of the 60’s British folk revival. The list of people who cite him as an influence includes Al Stewart, Paul Simon, Johnny Marr, Elton John, Ian Anderson, Bernie Taupin, Bernard Butler, Jimmy Page, Nick Drake, Graham Coxon, Donovan, Neil Young, Hope Sandoval, Fleet Foxes, Devendra Banhart, Neil Halstead, and Roy Harper. Beautiful stuff.
1)** (18:00) epic drumless percussive guitar upright bass and electric violin, etc, goes thru moods 2) (1:34) piano, great pensive but clear composition 3* (7:39) killer with cool phase shifter guitar, bad ass bass solo holy shit 4) (3:44) smarmy cool laid back 70’s strum, very dominant bass and violin melodies 5) (3:15) upbeat pensive driving 6) (2:48) a more baroque cadence, with 12 string guitar picking in front 7)* (7:15) tone of #3 returns with killer phase shifter guitar, upbeat swaying feel, real nice 8) (3:39) another version track 4, the smarmy stuum, low fi element to the recording of this with some wow and flutter in the tape 9) (10:00) a live version of first (title track) just a beautiful feel and classic traditional beauty to this loveliness
