Love child of the Ramones and early 80’s LA hardcore with the sentiment of the original Donnas’ garage punk glory themes of love and jealousy. All songs plunder 60’s garage tones heavily, often with background ooooh ahhhhh vocals in the choruses. If the songs aren’t about forlorn love they are replete with fighting, beer drinking, borderline lechery. Only thing missing are fast cars but it may be cuz this band is from New Zealand where vehicular transportation isn’t firmly affixed to our vas deferens and fragile egos. This album seems a little less rip roaring than their previous, which is probably a good thing cuz they already top my list for band most likely explode on stage. From our pals up the road in Reno, Slovenly Records.
1) (1:23) bad assed sneering driving punk fueled “love song” 2) (2:05) garagey shoo bop “better kiss your boyfriend goodbye” (a quick “asshole” is not an FCC but if you are squeaky clean be warned) 3) (2:15) throw back love song a la ramones “I wanna be your boyfriend” or “Needles and Pins” 4) (1:27) driving punk returns, urgent 5)* (2:47) 60’s classic garage feel within urgency, Ahs and ohs in chorus, more melodically developed (slick?) than others 6) (2:07) whoa speaking of “hey little girl I wanna be your boyfriend” this is a dead ringer 7) (2:11) bouncing garage 8) (2:21) very 60’s with tambourine, love song 9)* (1:55) hardcore punk riff under classic garage rock with obligatory fighting theme: “knife fight” 10) (1:36) melodic love song, mellow rock 11) (1:26) more rip roaring 12) (2:10) 18 wheeler theme, fun shit 13) (2:28) a genuine cow-punk song! With 2/4 bass and slide guitar to make Jeffry Lee Pierce and the Gun Club smile
