COUNTRY POP
Highly produced contemporary country (remember Countrypolitan?) with full band, strings, electronics, the works; nevertheless, nice in places. A concept album of sorts: most songs are about growing up gay in a traditional Catholic family in Georgia, then finding a new happy and out life as a musician in Nashville. The lyrics are quite touching at times.
FCC in tracks #3 and #7
1 Mid-tempo. Melancholy no-such-thing-as-love lament. (5:10)
2 * Mid-tempo. Girlfriend keeps her sane despite a crazy world & busy life. Sweet. (4:00)
3 (FCC: fuck) Mid-tempo. Title song about not meeting other people’s expectations. (3:55)
4 Mid-slow. Schmaltzy slow dance. About how unexpected love can be. (5:12)
5 * Mid-tempo. Sweet ballad about coming out. (5:11)
6 * Mid-tempo rocker. A lesbian with attitude! Ready to fight back. Powerful. (4:20)
7 (FCC: full of shit) Mid-tempo. Ballad about looking for truth. (4:31)
8 Slow. Ballad about leaving home and coming out. (4:11)
9 * Mid-tempo. Gay and proud. Joyous & optimistic. (5:04)
10 * Slow. Beautiful piano & voice torch song. Orchestra joins for a big finish. (5:13)
