Growing Up, the debut record the Linda Lindas, is a hybrid of power pop, hard rock, alternative rock, and punk with flecks of post-punk. Close your eyes and its not hard to imagine these songs emerging from any number of great groups, like Tegan and Sara, Sleater-Kinney or Best Coast. In May 2021, the young punk band got their own taste of internet fame with a filmed performance of their song “Racist, Sexist Boy.” ‘Growing Up’ is the debut album by LA teen punks The Linda Lindas, and, in their hands, those two words are anything but a cliché. It can be easy to forget the intricacies of growing up: sure, we remember the personal and existential questioning and the painful or embarrassing lessons, but do we also remember facing all of that with intelligence, resilience and open-heartedness? To hear all of this across an album made by those actually in the thick of it is immensely valuable.

.Growing Up 03:06 - Fun song that takes its time setting up, and exploding when it sees fit.
.Talking To Myself 02:22 - A raucous drum beat and fun vocal delivery is carried by a thrum of grungy guitars and bass.
.Fine 02:02 - Snarling vocals, and is reminiscent of 80s British punk, with its The Clash-esque/The Jam-like drums and guitars.
.Nino 01:49 - A song about a cat, with a 70s punk sound of slashing guitar chords.
.Why 02:19 - An impressively churning undertow lending it a throwback pre-punk vibe.
.Cuántas Veces 03:13 - Spanish-language track that pairs cultural tradition with the alternative.
.Remember 03:39 - New wave power pop with harsh guitar chords giving it edge.
