Capoeira is a highly stylized dance form from the martial arts from Africa. The berimbau is the most dominant instrument ( one steel wire between a wooden bow hit with a small stick held with a small shaker). Male vocals.
**1: 3:45 street Carnaval beat, with voice and cuica.
2: 3:43 starts slow then builds up to fast tempo.
3: 4:16 nice and mellow berimbau trance.
***4: 3:26 maximum trance berimbau
5: 4:03 the most popular beat among fighters, simple yet full.
6: 3:53 the most popular chant,
7: 4:06 chant.
8: 4:06 second most important beat, the lows and highs of the berimbau
***9: 4:59 flute like instrument the ocarina is VERY NICE
10: 5:10 berimbau in 6/8 time, different.
**11: 3:03 double berimbau (gets in an extra note)
*12: 5:59 nice chants and great percussion.
13: 4:38 slow and low chant.
*14: 3:48 a maracatu rhythm, more drums on this one.
15: 2:43 tablas add an interesting sound with berimbau. sort of a berimbau raga. 16: 3:05 electric berimbau, jungle sounds.
**17: 5:19 real nice low keyed yet a much alive sound. D Farrell 06/98
