Luv 'n Haight re-issue of an obscure (except to collectors) early 70's soul album. Jazzy and funky plus hints of African, Latin, and other world flavors. Prominent use of percussion and strong black sisters on vocals. Similar to Roy Ayers or Donald Byrd's 'A New Perspective' (from the vocals). All tracks are good, the best is track 6, then try 4, 5, and 1.
1) Popular raregroove. Long mellow intro with electric piano and alternating female/male vocals, then at -5:06 track gets funkier, adding bass, afro-cuban rhythm, and horns.
2) Earnest male soul vocals with female backup on straight soul track.
3) Funky Latin/fusion flavor with chanting female chorus, horns, and a couple of spacey solos.
4) Up-tempo, female vocals plus flute, sax, trumpet, electric piano, trombone, vibes(?), and bass all take a turn jamming with a synthesizer.
5) Female vocals and flute over Latin flavored bass
6) Instrumental. African flavored funk (Fela-esque) featuring baritone sax, horns, and bas
