Little Wings "Light Green Leaves" [K Records]
The Little Wings are one of my top ten discoveries of 2002. The other 2002 release, "Wonderue", passed through afile a bit ago. This is indie rockin on the porch at sunset music -- very earnest and daydream-in-my-bedroom type acoustic rock. Yes, this album is mellow and mostly acoustic backed, with guitar, harmonica, blocks, piano, and primarily brushed drums; it has a lazy summer day feel. Chock full of great melodies and great songs. -nari
1. moderate beat, makes ya kind of sway, calvin johnson guest
2. delicate with high singsong vocals, pretty vocals
3. kind of a goofy ditty
4. sweet little romantic instrumental w/harmonica
5. light whisked drums, slightly wistful with a nostalgic narrative
6. stripped down acoustic with M+F duet, harmonies
7. short but cute - F vocals, strolling tempo, gentle drum machine
8. like a folk tune you'd learn in grade school … high M vocals with relaxed, fun approach to poppy theme
9. long piano, strings & triangle opening, vocals towards the end
10. super short & simple with an infectious hook
11. still walking tempo, but has a little more oomph & bigger sound, doubled vocals, pert beats
12. the quicker tempo, off beat strumming, tambourine and V-I-V-I basslline makes it sound kinda mariachi like
