Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2003-01-29
Dreamy melodic pop, yet dense and psyche-droney. Like the Beatles reincarnated as Jessamine recorded in that church studio in Duluth MN that Low uses. Tasteful guits and keys, mostly understated male vocs that are androgynous/falsetto at times. Good noise and low-fi elements. A few basic conventional pop songs too.

1) slow piano ballad, downtempo lo-fi drumbeat enters, understated vocs, dreamy
2) upbeat, slightly marching beat, real drums, dense pop melodies, vocs
3) upbeat near folk-rock, cool synth tones
4) straight jangly pop, melodic hook worthy of TV sitcom theme song
5) chill waltzy, dreamy feel, buried FCC?, epic
6) 4:15, ode to drinking/drugs vs depression, simple vocs + guit ballad, kinda whiney, then 4 min silence followed by 2 min obligatory hidden track: old sounding jazz record +rain
