This is very nice atmospheric, spaced-out jam type stuff with a cool improvisational feel to it. If not already in a fugue state, this will induce one. Sounds are produced by guitar (very creative effects), bass, drums (also very original) and organ, but refreshingly vocal-free (usually the most annoying feature of music of this genre to me). Ten tracks (one more than listed) which often blend together and phase thru a variety of moods and atmospheres.
*1. Straight ahead driving groove, kinda Stereolabish, pivoting around an organ drone.
2. After a slow beginning with sad violin sounds, this one builds up into an intense urgent mess, then collapses into drumless space, blending into the next track...
3....where drums and bass guitar are added to give backbone.
***4. My favorite track, a really nice drumless mind-alterer. Cool echo guitar effects with weird 1/2-mosquito-1/2-female vocal quality.
5. Back to Earth....repetitive bass riff and loud distorted guitar. A lot of smoke and flames but not real catchy.
6.Starts slow, then into loud distorted wah-wah effects...never really settles into a groove.
*7. Beautiful chime guitar riff and steady beats suck you right in. Builds up into fullon distorted blast. Drummer pulls some random stunts here and there.
*8. Sad, slow, but remains intense, never dragging ass....reminds me of Dirty Three with effects.
*9. Pull out ever trick they got...
10. (unlisted track) Harsh lo-fi noise, made to sound like a live recording.
