Sandman – The Long Ride Home
Chris Sand (AKA Sandman) is known as the "rappin’ cowboy". But there’s not much rappin’ at all on this album, other than sampling a bit of LL Cool J on the first track, it’s more in the vein of folk/country songwriters like Woody Guthrie or Richard Buckner. Mostly voice and guitar, occasionally drums and fiddle. Despite the lack of rappin’, he writes some good songs about the usuals: heartbreak, isolation, being poor, getting your email cut off, cell phones getting stolen. Country music enters the 21st century!
