Playful sound exploration. The emphasis however is not on playful as silly but on playful as uninhibited. Y&Y come up with organic soundscapes (birds chirping, dogs barking, occasional singing) but they also use rather measured amounts of toys (or toyful sounding real instruments). The sounds aren't intended so much to surprise or shock you as to make you smile and feel warm and fuzzy. That said, this is still a thoroughly beautiful and weird piece of sound art.
1. Some sort of vaguely queasy lounge act playing "Stormy Weather" at the outdoor bar of a tropical resort
2. The title is "Ha Wa ii Na" so it's fitting that this has a primitive, island feel, specifically on the wooden percussion instrument (grang tang?); very gentle
3. A shorter piece resembling track 2 - just melodic percussion
4. Yoshimi blows a soulful trumpet over a bit more subtle version of the island tune from the preceding tracks while Yuka lays down a nice bass bottom and the birds sing their songs
5. A pastiche of stuff that eventually settles into an uneasy loping tempo, with Yoshimi's vocals going all over in a semi-demented fashion
6. A half-hour shaggy dog story of a tune, sadly self-indulgent, pointless, and static; there are a couple of minutes near the end when a simple song breaks out but it?s insufficient payoff for the preceding 20+ minutes
7. A short piano and bird code; very pretty
