Lovely dream-pop, with a watery Bernard Sumner guitar and dual male/female vox, earnest and breathy. Well-crafted, wall-of-sound pop
songs a la My Bloody Valentine or Lush. Blue-tinted lonesomeness mixed with spacey bliss-out; lyrics ruminate about lost loves and, yes, drifting off in a swoony daze. Enchanting from the opening chord. Keep an eye out for them. Clean. Generally of pop song length, except: 5, 8, & 10 are very short interludes, padding for the 9 tracks listed on the back cover; #12 (very last track) is over 10 minutes long.
*1 - aptly-named "Regret" starts off low-key but winds up into an anguished cri du coeur.
2 - charming, catchy song about a lost love
*3 - achieves a 16 Horsepower-like wistful, loopy guitar sound complementing Janina Kokorowski's fey vocals.
4 - long contemplative instrumental break, fits in perfectly with the vocal parts.
6 - pretty and ethereal, just this side of Lycia
*7- heavier post-punk guitar sound and great instance of Cyrus Julian's youthful voice.
*9 - two sides of a love story -- missed connections, misunderstandings. Great pop, cool trippy ending.
11 - wandering instrumental heats up into a faster, very New Order tune, with singsong vocals giving way to a frenetic closure.
12 - epic instrumental to trance out to.
