KXLU Live Vol. 6
Indie rock/pop/math rock/hip-hop/experimental --Compilation of bands playing line on KXLU in LA -- mostly indie rock but also good math rock and hip-hop and a few good experimental/noise tracks. To their credit, indie rock tracks often deviate from well-worn formulae -- and the noise/experimental tracks were especially good (CD1: 3, 16)
PICS: CD1: 1, 3, 4, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16 CD2:1, 3, 6, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17
CD1
1. The Mooney Suzuki - goofy banter, then harmonica solo, hipster blues romp
2. The Blue Balls - nice name! driving catchy punk/indie rock, scratchy voice
3. Dinosaurs with Horns - samples, loops + feedback, evolves into noise, blips, vocal samples, GREAT!
4. The Convocation of... - quiet beginning, fugazi-esque punk
5. The Mercury Program - groovin bass line + vibrophone, instrumental indie/math rock
6. Slug and Eyedea - hip-hop - double team freestyle rhyming + beats

14. Steve Wynn - acoustic guitar + voice, energetic,
15. Mascott - sweet indie pop, female vocals, tambourine
