Kahil El’Zabar / David Murray – We Is
Amazing! This disc of live duets between percussionist El’Zabar and saxist Murray is the best I’ve ever heard them play. From spare African grooves to blazing free improv to the lowdown dirty blues, they do it all here and they do it with SOUL. Do not miss this one!!
**1. Nasty, bluesy sax backed by hand drums and egged on by El’Zabar’s wordless vocals. Yeah!
*2. Busy free jazz
*3. Quiet African groove with soulful sax
*4. Percussive bass clarinet followed by bouncy groove w/ lyrics
**5. Powerful, wild blues
