This is an EP for a track that appeared on Four Tet's Rounds (2003). In case you didn't know, Four Tet a big name in electronica. He crafts intricate trip-hop with a very distinct "folksy" vibe. I thought this track was a strange choice for an EP, but that's okay because the Icarus remix (Track 2) is incredible. (Icarus, by the way, was just on A-File). For the record, I think Four Tet needs a new aesthetic... he's kinda played out the wind chime/folksy deal...

1. Rhythmic static and hollow beat, cheerful harp melody. Halfway through stirring bass and twangy echoes fill out the jam. (5:10)
**2. A remix of Track 1. The harp sample is repeated frantically over a scurrying mess of samples, drones, and beats. Cut-up (Chinese?) spoken samples and deeper pulses kick in with an insane, totally sick trip hop beat. Fuck yeah! (7:20)
3. Muted string plucks everywhere. Then metallic clashes form a fast, tribal-ish beat. Melodic drones join in halfway. Sputters out. (5:20)
*4. Ambient, relaxing drones over crackly, vinyl sounds. In the second half, the ambient drones intensify into a sparse but beautiful drama. (2:16)
5. No beat. A group of chimes ring out in rhythmic, hypnotic fashion. (3:18)
