Another Slim Cessna offshoot Jay Munly delves into dark twangy strange folky slash "gothic" western slash alt.country slash mopey cool stuff just dripping with requisite MakeOut Room/Docs Clock Mission hipsterness. Sure to give that crowd a boner, it titilates me as well. Good stuff, especially in the face of being compared to Nick Cave etc ad nauseum. Gotta respect them for that alone. 2) heavy on female back vocs, mostly acoustic based, darkness, epic
3) banjo turns upbeat bluegrassy
4) melllower, well thought out in its darkness
5) spacey intro goes on to train beat brushed drums and ethereal vocs, unique and interesting for this realm if anything, definately great if everything
6) dramatic story telling
7) quiet wind sound fade in, spoken word intro about horses give this a faux hipster western feel especially talking about scrub jay biology that doesnt exist,
turns yee haw look maw ahm a cowboi!
8) slow waltz w/ fem duet, dark as hell for all you dudes thinking about killing your own unborn child
9) upbeat, wearing out the "gospel" nick cave theme thin
10) upbeat urgent dramatic
11) string arrangements reign heavy here, more drama
12) lots of bowing, strings, lend a uniqueness to the urgent beat, feel, female vocs ring of Jarboe
13) acoustic heavy 3/4 waltz, dark
14) some yodeling figures prominently with the more typical rock beat
15) more rocky, low fi initial tone, dark and reverby, a great synopsis of the whole shebang
