Deep jazzy house that borders on chillout material at times. Some breakbeat thrown in for good measure. Lots of flute, percussion, and dreamy synth effects. No single song jumps out and grabs you, but all are very solid. Beach music.
Best tracks: 3, 6, 8, 12
Track 1: Beatless intro with reverbed sound effects of children and crowds talking.
Track 2: My guess is this is the first single. Well put-together tropical vibe driven by female vox, keys, and flute.
*Track 3: More stripped down and catchy. Standout growling bass and sparse keys.
Track 4: Straight ahead deep house fare, a la Naked Music, with cowbell and complex jazz solo on the keys.
Track 5: Tempo slows down for some lush chillout and spoken word vox. Nothing revolutionary but hard to go wrong with that recipe.
Track 6: Stuttered piano over schizo breakbeat, and wobbly d’n’b bass! They stole a page out of Dzihan & Kamien’s book.
Track 7: More of the classic chillout sound.
*Track 8: Funk!! Distorted bass and disco beat mashed up with flute. A+!
Track 9: Breakbeat with bleepy filtered elements and plenty of funk lingering from the last track. Dives into deep and jazzy later, then lots of noise at end.
Track 10: Percussive breakbeat with some flamenco guitar. A little boring.
Track 11: Smooth breaks. It’s obvious we’re at the end of the album.
*Track 12: Deep and sensual groove laid down with superb drum kit and piano.
Track 13: SCRATCHED – don’t play. Beatless outro.
