French pop singer takes a whack at American song styles and English lyrics. Half the songs are in French, the others English. She has a pretty voice, and approaches the music with an interesting, outsider perspective. Recommend 1, 7, 10. FCC 11 “shit” (I don’t speak French).
1))) 60/120 bpm Fem. vocals crooned in French, with guitar, drums (brushes) and synth., strings.
2)) 80 bpm. Sim to above, but in English, brighter. Lyrics okay, not great “You’re loves greatest you can find.”
3)) 60 bpm. Another song about Chelsea (the neighborhood). Still, a pretty nice song. Delivery, orchestration remind me of Leonard Cohen minus misanthropy. Odd alt-country interlude.
4) 70 bpm Piano/acoustic guitar opening. English lyrics. Synth.
5)) 70 bpm. Shimmery guitars, fuzz bass. Later, strings. In French.
6)) 75 bpm. Lush, subdued chamber pop. Acoustic guitar, strings. English lyrics. Later, breathing sounds, trumpet.
7))) 100 bpm. Alt-country, odd, allusive lyrics. Harmonica.
8) 110 bpm. Dixie-pop in French.
9)) 50 bpm. More traditional French ballad. Guitar, voice, trumpet.
10))) 75 bpm. Mild electric beat, guitar. Breakup song. Very good.
11))) FCC ”shit” barely audible. 45 bpm. Guitar, male spoken word about alleged pyromaniac. Cool.
