Earthless – Sonic Prayer (Gravity)
Two 20+ minute jams of psychedelic space rock. Lots and lots of guitar noodleing, effects and a rhythm section they find a rhythm and hold it for a long time. This is all instrumental. The band is from SD and contains ex members of Clikatat Ikatowi and the Hot Snakes but sounds absolutely nothing like those bands at all. This reminds me of Hawkwind and the Major Stars.
**1. The drums start things off; find their rhythm and then the bass shows up. These two will hold this pattern for the rest of the 20 minutes. After about 30 seconds the guitars fade in with tons of effects. The next two minutes is pretty much the guitar player jamming away. I don’t think the bass player changes the entire 20 minutes.
**2. Starts with a darker guitar riff. There is less noodling during the first part of this track as the guitar player rides the riff for a while. After about 4 minutes the track gets heavier, almost metal.
Good stuff -mph
