DIY pop/rock: minimal, retro, and lo-fi. Noisy guitar, clean bass, messy drums, hot (female) voice... vaguely similar to Nikki Kolk (of Kaito). Three-piece from LA. Songs are all great. Most are high energy and end cold. Play with Kaito, The La’s, the Ex, The Homosexuals, Sleater-Kinney, The Sugarcubes. A truly fine record! Our version is somewhat different from the one you can buy at http://www.aveburyrecords.com/buysomething/ FCC clean. Start with 2, 8, 11.
1. Very short. Brief, silly phone conversation.
==> 2. Punky, perky blues rock. “You won’t get far!” Starts with loud drums.
3. Melancholy punk/surf ballad about being too drunk. Starts with a bit of conversation, then a pause.
4. Punk groove rock... Kaito plays Doobie Brothers. Weird but works!
5. Slow, minor-key, retro-pop ballad. Wonderfully out of tune. Slow fade.
6. Downtempo, quiet, psychedelic instrumental. Starts with quiet TV audio sfx. Ends with quiet noise.
7. Guitar-heavy, minor-key, high energy pop. Like a messy La’s. Starts with strummy guitar.
==> 8. Minimal, sour, and percussive post-punk, like the Homosexuals or The Ex. Starts relatively quiet and gets loud.
9. Psychedelic blues rock... in the vein of Janis Joplin or The Beatles, but really messy. Fades
10. Mid-tempo, strummy, fraught ballad. Starts with lo-fi drums. Fades
==> 11. Acoustic ditty with a Greek/euro motif. Falsetto vocals. No drums. Starts with a couple seconds of near silence. Fades.
12. Jazzy, sparse post-punk. Starts with single-note bass, then drums come in. Distorted vocals. Audio level is low throughout the track. Sort of like The Cure’s first album, but messy. Ends with screams.
13. Acoustic, minimal folk instrumental. Starts with footsteps sfx. Music starts about 15 seconds in. Short.
