The Flakes "Back To School" – Some fun local garage rock. The sound ranges from the Rolling Stones, to the Beetles, to more punk and pop-punk sounds. Songs are pretty simple with solid uptempo beats (some are a bit slower). Fun guitar solos throughout and nice use of harmonica, tambourine, hand-claps, etc. Vocals are often lo-fi and a bit distorted or overblown sounding. Nothing on here is really amazing, but it is a lot of fun. There is a nice mix of original songs and classic covers. Fcc clean as far as I could tell. Pick a song and have fun.

1)Uptempo and fun. Solid driving beat with a great simple blues/rock chord progression and some harmonica too. Slightly distorted vocals are yelled/sung.
2)Very lo-fi garage rock version of “C'mon and Swim.” Fun and energetic with hand-claps and short guitar solos. Uptempo.
3)Uptempo with a bouncy beat. Simple pop/rock.
4)A little slower, midtempo. Solid pounding beat with a touch of psychedelia.
5)Uptempo rockabilly. Fun 60's style pop/rock. Nice distorted and overblown vocals.
6)Slower midtempo with tambourine and a slightly dragging beat. Pounding bass drum and tom-toms. Cute harmonies on vocals.
7)Fades in with drums and then guitar (a little surfy and a little psychedelic) kicks in with the rest of the band. Uptempo and fast vocals that have a Beetles quality to them.
8)Uptempo with a solid driving beat. Harmonica and distorted vocals. Fun!
9)Solid midtempo with a simple beat and simple guitars. Vocals are a little bratty/whiny sounding. Cute.
10)Faster midtempo to uptempo. First part of song is “Shake” which is full of energy and fun. Then halfway through it turns into a “Hold On I'm Comin'” cover. It's fun.
11)Pounding midtempo cover of “Stupid Girl.” Vocals are a little bratty/whiny again.
12)Fun midtempo with a bouncy groove. Nice breakdown section. I really like all the background yelling.
13)Uptempo with a solid driving beat. Simple with a fun rockabilly guitar part.
14)Starts with drums and bass and then tough guitars are added. Distorted vocals, a little angry sounding. Midtempo with a slight drag to the beat.
