Billed as “an unfinished operetta,” though it’s not an opera. What it is, is 16 tracks, 16 stories of female oppression and strong, courageous, mythical women. At times dancey and funky, at others strident and powerful, it’s a curious, unpredictable, ambitious, typically bizarre release from this Brazilian maverick. Completely impossible to describe. Lots of programming, melds of hip-hop, samba, jazz, and assorted sordid sounds. Way freaky odd. But fun.
*1. Like metal bees w/a rock beat & chorus. Upbeat programming.
2. Fun, plinky, poppy. Midtempo, catchy, quirky.
3. Bouncy beats/male vox/fem chorus.
*4. Wacky fast nasally fem/male duet, programming, then a bit bossa.
5. Snaps, hums, guitars into a midtempo contemporary groove.
6. Mid. Cartoon chipmunk voices back Afro-Latin drums./vox. So odd
7. Mid jazzy, then slow w/chorus. Short.
8. Crying, screechy electronica. Mid/uptempo, strident.
9. Slow guitar/male/fem voices. Then spoken word over guitar.
10. Mid/uptempo funky w/scary choral programming. It kinda hurts.
11. Quirky uptempo electrofunk w/fem. orgasm noises.
*12. Lightly bopping electrosamba.
*13. Sweet, jazzy fem vox male joins in at 2:00. Lowkey & nice.
14. Lowkey male vox, jazz. Then light brass, then strings, then….
