Genre-blending mindfuck: country/western, folk/rock, experimental pop, bluegrass, cartoon music, and so on. Low-key male vocals. Lots of pedal steel guitar, along with guitars, mandolin, strings. A project of Julian Snow from Salem, OR. Play with Calexico, Tindersticks, Anti-Clockwise, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, The Fiery Furnaces. Amazing album. FCC indecent: 1. Start with 3, 4, 8.
1. FCC indecent. Sort of draft of a song. Ends before it finds itself. Begins acoustic & sweet and quickly gets electric & sour.
2. Mid-fast, country-western rocker.
==> 3. Dark, lo-fi folk rock ballad. with pedal steel. Starts with hard-panned, strummed guitar.
==> 4. Folk/prog, multi-part instrumental. Starts low key and gets frenetic, then returns.
5. Acoustic, minimal ballad... becomes electric, with lines like “constructing the internal organs with vacuum tubes.”
6. Very pretty, slow ballad with guitars and synths. Starts with a slow guitar strum.
7. Quirky pop. Lo-fi, detuned synths and drums. Starts with pedal steel.
==> 8. Mid-fast indie/country pop with wacky electronics. Ends cold.
9. Demented country rock instrumental. Eclectic and warped. Ends with electric noise.
10. Slow, poignant/demented ballad that becomes briefly jumpy at end.
